1. Application Process Details: 

a. Applicants can receive up to $1,000 for each academic year. The award is nonrenewable; therefore, current recipients must re-apply each application period.

b. This scholarship award is only available to members of the Beta Nu Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated.

c. All undergraduate degrees and majors are eligible for the award.

d. The scholarship can be used to cover tuition expenses and related supplemental educational expenses such as books, lab fees, travel and selected cost of living. All scholarship recipients are required to “give back” by conducting community service and by serving as mentors to young aspiring Alpha men and students at FAMU.

e. Applicants must be a current financial member in good standing with the Beta Nu Chapter and/or in good financial standing with the University. 

f. If selected as the scholarship recipient you hereby agree to the following:

1. Grant permission to use your picture and name in the BKG Scholarship literature and on the BKG&MTF website.

2. Provide yearly updates on college progress.

3. Attend the Man on The Go Luncheon, date to be determined, to receive the BKG Scholarship Award. Attend the BKG Scholarship Reception and Banquet on date to be determined, to receive the BKG Scholarship Award. Information on both events will be provided in future correspondence.

g. Current college, sophomores, juniors and seniors are eligible to apply.

h. The application is available online only. Students will need the following items to apply for the scholarship (Alpha members only):

1. Current resume 

2. Unofficial transcript

3. Head shot photo

4. Two letters of recommendation.  Note: (Must be from two different Alpha brothers)

a.  One from a brother of Gamma Mu Lambda or a Beta Nu graduate brother.

b. One from a current FAMU educator, faculty member or administrator..    

5. One-page typed essay about the Aims of Alpha Phi Alpha.

2. 2022 Timeline for current college students:

a. The application process is open August 10, 2022-September 30, 2022. Applications must be completed by 11:59pm on September 30, 2022.

b. Reminder emails are sent to the Presidents of Gamma Mu Lambda and Beta Nu Chapters on August 15, 2022. Students who have started an application are reminded to complete their application by September 30, 2022.

c. Applications will be reviewed until October 15, 2022.

d. Award recipient will be notified by the BKG&MTF Scholarship Committee on October 15, 2022.
