Jeffrey Alan Lamar (JAL) Scholarship Overview

(For incoming FAMU Freshmen)

1. Application process and details: 

a. Winning applicant (s) can receive up to $1,000.00 for the current academic year. The award is nonrenewable and current recipients cannot re-apply.

b. This scholarship award is only available to students that have been accepted for the fall semester at Florida A&M University. The student must be presently enrolled and on campus.

c. All undergraduate degrees and majors are eligible for the award.

d. The scholarship can be used to cover tuition expenses and related supplemental educational expenses such as books, lab fees, travel and selected cost of living. All scholarship recipients are required to “give back” by conducting community service.

e. If selected as the scholarship recipient, you hereby grant permission to use your picture and name in the 1932 Projects Foundation literature and website.

f. The application is available online only. Students will need the following items to apply for the scholarship:

1. Current resume 

2. Official transcript 

3. Head shot photo

4. Two letters of recommendation.

a. One from a high school faculty member.

b. One from an administrator, non counselor.

5. One page typed essay on the differences between leadership and management.  

g. Uploading the documents

1. Complete the JAL Scholarship High School Student Application. Then consolidate items from f, 1-5 above into a single pdf and upload via the upload button on the form.

2.  2025 scholarship timeline:

a. The application process is open August 18th-October 3rd, 2025. Applications must be completed by 11:59pm on October 3rd, 2025.

Students who have started an application are reminded to complete their application by October 3rd, 2025.

b. Applications will be reviewed until October 10th, 2025.

c. Award winner (s) only will be notified by the 1932 Projects Foundation Scholarship Committee by October 13th, 2025.
