Brian Keith Greene (BKG) Scholarship Background

Brother Brian Keith Greene was born November 18, 1960 in Shaker Heights, Ohio, where he received his elementary and secondary education. He was born to parents Mr. James and Mrs. Ruth Greene and he was the youngest of three siblings, Pamela Greene and James Greene, Jr. In 1979, he graduated from Shaker Heights School as a National Achievement semifinalist.

He attended Florida A&M University on a School of Business and Industry Scholarship and was a candidate for graduation majoring in business administration. Brother Greene was a member of the esteemed Beta Nu Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha, Inc crossing on the Spring 1981 Line, The Majestic Transitioner’s. He received the chapter’s Outstanding Brother Award in 1982-83 and served as chapter president in 1983-84. Also while at Florida A&M University, Brother Greene was a member of the Society for the Advancement and Marketing, the Marketing Club, the Finance Club and the Honors Club. He was also instrumental in rechartering the FAMU Chapter of the NAACP and served as president in 1982-83. Brother Greene was a great Famuan and a great Alpha man. He will always be remembered for high standards and consistently displaying the aims of Alpha. Manly Deeds, Scholarship and Love for all mankind.

On the night of February 21, 1985, Brother Greene was struck by a drunk driver and transitioned into Omega Chapter. Ironically, on the day that Brother Greene was killed, the U.S. Department of the Navy had accepted him for officer candidate training in Aviation in Pensacola, Florida.
